A Second Chance to Rewrite My Story

Zanele Mavis Ntshweng | TCB Resell Programme | Johannesburg

My name is Zanele Mavis Ntshweng. I am 35 years old and I live in Ivory Park Extension 2.

I am a mother of two, a daughter and a son. I am also a guardian to my younger sister and a wife to my lovely husband. I am a hard worker, a hustler and a fast learner. I enjoy taking on new challenges and I am passionate about changing my background for the better.

When I applied for this programme, it felt like an answer to my prayers. TCB gave me the opportunity to be a wife, a mother and a graduate all at the same time, without the financial barriers that often stand in the way of personal growth.

When I started this journey, I hoped to become an independent and educated person. Along the way, some of the most valuable lessons came from the Money Matters and Life Skills classes. These sessions stood out to me because they taught me that money matters and that my money and I need to have a healthy relationship if I want a healthy financial future.

I have also learned a great deal through my experience working at the warehouse. Every part of the programme has given me opportunities to learn and grow.

One of the things I enjoy most is being around the people at TCB. I enjoy the sense of community and the opportunity to buy stock at lower prices to support my business journey.

Being part of this programme has made me feel positive, inspired and motivated. It has also helped me fall in love with myself again.

When I look at my journey so far, I see progress in my financial journey and in my life as a whole. Graduation, sisterhood and becoming a business owner are milestones that mean a great deal to me.

My dream is to achieve financial freedom, become a graduate, build a successful business, be a great mother and continue becoming a better person.

This journey means life and light to me. It is a second chance to rewrite my life and create a better future for myself and my family.

Taking Care of Business (TCB) is a nonprofit social enterprise. We are empowering unemployed South Africans and their families to escape the cycle of poverty through small business opportunities, mostly within the circular economy.

Financial independence thanks to reselling business

Asanda Maqawa joined the TCB Resell Programme after losing her job and facing financial hardship. Through business and financial skills training, she built a small reselling business that now helps her support her children, care for her mother and regain confidence as an independent entrepreneur.
