Rose Tema’s Journey to Owning a Repair Business

Rose Tema | TCB Repair Programme | Johannesburg

My name is Rose Tema. I am 33 years old and a mother of two children.

Before joining TCB, I worked in retail for three years. After that, I completed an electrical engineering learnership so that I could learn how to repair appliances.

I joined TCB because I want to run my own repair and selling business. I came here to learn how to manage money and run a business properly. From the moment I started, TCB has already been helping me a lot.

One of my biggest goals is to grow my business and open my own shop within a year. For me, this programme means much more than learning new skills. It is an opportunity to build a better future for my family and create something of my own.

One of the biggest highlights of this journey has been learning how to handle money and price my services correctly. Before joining TCB, I often relied on guesswork. Now I understand the importance of profit and costing, and I can make more informed decisions for my business.

Every lesson is helping me move closer to my goal of becoming a successful business owner. I am excited about the future and the opportunities that lie ahead as I continue building my repair and selling business.

Taking Care of Business (TCB) is a nonprofit social enterprise. We are empowering unemployed South Africans and their families to escape the cycle of poverty through small business opportunities, mostly within the circular economy.
